Raw materials for cement such as limestone, clay, shale, etc. are extracted by blasting or scraping with shearer loaders. The material is then delivered to the crusher, where it is reduced to small pieces by crushing or pounding.
The crushed limestone and other cement raw materials are often stored under cover to protect them from humidity and to minimize dust. Since the quarry is usually located some distance from the cement plant, a separate or stand-alone storage facility with power supply equipment is needed.
