Siemens Water Technologies and ACE Korea, Inc. (Busan, Korea) have recently reached an exclusive distributorship agreement to promote ELODE (Electro-Osmosis Dehydrator) in North America and China. This unique electro-dewatering device extracts both free and absorbed water from organic and inorganic residual materials. With efficiencies yielding greater than 40 percent dry solids, typical municipal and industrial waste sludge volumes can be reduced by half, or more. The ELODE technology uses less energy consumption than some other drying technologies.

The ELODE device consists of three basic components: a sludge conveying belt, an anode and a cathode
The ELODE technology is offered as a primary dewatering device, as well as a secondary treatment unit, which allows it to be easily retrofit into existing facilities. Using the combined principles of electrophoresis and electro-osmosis, the ELODE device consists of three basic components: a sludge conveying belt, an anode and a cathode. Biosolids cake can be generated from a primary dewatering process such as a belt press, centrifuge or filter press. The cake is then extruded onto the ELODE device’s sludge-conveying belt. When the cake passes between the anode and cathode, the electro-osmosis dehydration process occurs, resulting in a highly dewatered residual material. The ELODE device will be featured at WEFTEC.08 in Booth # 28077, Hall B.
