Plate heat treatment lines

Siemens Metals Technologies has been building plate furnaces since the 1930s, with more than 80 furnaces installed on 6 continents. Furnaces feature pre-assembly in modules, which results in better quality and faster installation. There are dozens of other features to improve equipment life, ease maintenance, and reduce energy consumption. As the inventors of both the platen quench and the roller quench, Siemens has repeatedly ‘pushed the envelope’ of plate cooling technology. The roller quench provides the fastest cooling which is physically possible, and uniform water and restraint results in flatter plates.


Bright annealing lines

Strip Bright Annealing lines for Stainless Steel, Nickel Alloy, Super-alloys, and nonferrous strip. Siemens technology includes all equipment from the payoff reel, through the furnace and cooling section, to the recoiler.  Siemens specializes in ultra-light gauges down to 0.012 mm thick and from 50 mm to 1250 mm wide. The heating and cooling sections include specialized “gas labrynth” driven roll seals for superior strip surface quality and extreme gas- tight furnaces resulting in very low dew-points using 50%-100% H2 furnace atmosphere.


Tube and pipe quench and temper (OCTG)

Siemens FCE F&D Technologies is a leader in proven, innovative technologies such as water quenching that achieves consistent high martensite levels utilizing multiple means of quenching the tube outer surface as well as the inside. In addition, convective tempering, which circulates hot exhaust gases through the furnace, insures consistent mechanical properties on a reliable basis.

Siemens quench and temper plants typically include a direct fired, waking beam, austenitizing furnace; a high pressure, water spray quench system; a convective, walking beam, tempering furnace; all associated material handling equipment; all necessary instrumentation; and PLC control system. In addition, Siemens provides fully staffed technical support throughout the project execution, installation, and commissioning.



Anneal and pickle lines

Catenary furnaces and quenches (air, mist & water) for Anneal & Pickle Lines (APLs) for hot-rolled and cold-rolled stainless steel strip. Uniform heating as well as fast and controlled cooling are the hallmarks of Siemens Anneal & Pickle lines for thicknesses from 0.1 mm to 10 mm and widths from 300 mm to 1550 mm. These furnaces are designed for high energy efficiency, low NOx emissions and ease of hearth roll changes.


Car bottom furnaces

Large car bottom furnaces with excellent uniformity, as well as controlled heating and cooling rates. Among other applications, these furnaces are used to meet the stringent metallurgical requirements for heat treating the tanks which are used to make railroad tank cars.  Both batch (as shown) and semi-continuous designs are available.


Motor Lamination Plants

Siemens FCE F&D Technologies provide roller hearth furnace lines to anneal and surface treat motor laminations, or silicon electrical steel. The roller hearth furnace operates with a protective atmosphere of hydrogen and nitrogen by utilizing a fuel efficient, radiant tube combustion system.

Siemens roller hearth motor lamination lines typically include a direct fired preheat furnace; a radiant tube furnace; a slow cooling chamber; a bluing chamber; a final air cooling chamber; all associated material handling equipment; all necessary instrumentation; and PLC control system. In addition, Siemens provides fully staffed technical support throughout the project execution, installation, and commissioning.
