Siemens offers a comprehensive set of drives for automotive production systems. Components include converters for the distributed SIMATIC ET 200S and SIMATIC ET 200pro systems and variable-speed drives of the SINAMICS converter family meet customer requirements with variable power and performance capabilities.  

We offer the right drive system for every automotive production needs. Our drives offer a wide range of capabilities and applications. These include components such as:

  • distributed conveyor system applications with the SINAMICS G120D converter in IP65 class of protection;

  • paint shop ventilation systems with the SINAMICS G120; and

  • press shop coordination of axes and servo drives with SINAMICS S120/S150.

We offer drives versions that provide sophisticated features as a standard, such as efficient infeed technology for power regeneration, or patented Safety technologies such as Safely Limited Speed (SLS) without speed encoder.

Uniform engineering tools for our drives enable simple engineering of the entire drive system (SIZER) as well as rapid commissioning (STARTER) of drives. The drives are linked with PROFIBUS or PROFINET and PROFISAFE  in Totally Integrated Automation.

In addition to our converters and drives, automotive production can be enhanced with our high-efficiency motors and geared motors.

With its impressively compact structure and modularity, SINAMICS S120 also offers options for distributed structures over large distances. The commissioning of the drive is simplified by the use of smart software tools with user-friendly screen forms and automatic controller optimization by means of the automatic recognition of electronic type plates of the motors.
