A MAV concept as shown at ACHEMA minimizes coordination through one single point of contact and reduces interfaces between different vendors. SIMATIC PCS 7 LAB Collection - a tailor-made SIMATIC PCS 7 solution for laboratory automation - improves efficiency, quality and safety of development processes. It facilitates complete and seamless information acquisition and application control, and is demonstrated at ACHEMA within a typical lab application. The system is supplemented by the Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN), a library to capture and structure lots of experimental data.

This ACHEMA solution covers the trends of the chemicals industry, in particular plant and process safety and operational effectiveness.

Key is the automation system SIMATIC PCS 7 including integrated safety technology. Functional safety up to SIL 3 is complied with SIMOCODE pro for safety shutdown of motors using PROFIBUS DP. Another application for enhancing safety in emergency situations is Partial Stroke Test, integrated within the process control system itself and for SIPART PS2 valve positioner.

For higher process efficiency and increased availability, Siemens demonstrates fault-tolerant communication (ring redundancy) right down to field devices, such as SITRANS P and SITRANS PSII linked by Foundation Fieldbus H1. And finally, the solution is finished by integrated "Lean APC" (Advanced Process Control) functions for plant optimization.


Flexible production management - Booth position 19

The APF (advanced process functions) onboard features of SIMATIC PCS 7 help customers with their material management, storage and archiving for mixing processes. This solution optimizes production due to transparency in storage locations and materials, and it supports seamless documentation as all relevant data is recorded and reported.

HMIplus supports process control of industrial production processes by user-oriented process visualization features.

The background to this concept is the constantly increasingly complexity of the processes to be monitored and the working environment, for instance a heterogeneous system environment in control rooms from the perspective of the operators.

SIMIT is a powerful, scalable platform for simulating and testing automation projects, shown at ACHEMA in the field of plant design.

SIMIT enables a higher project/software quality due to early testing. Thanks to reduced engineering errors, commissioning efforts decrease significantly as well as project duration, time-to-production and costs.

Additionally SIMIT enables to build-up training schemes. Improved operators skills and plant knowledge enable to reach faster plant operation excellence. It supports virtual commissioning through a comprehensive set of features, covering simulation of controllers (hardware/software), signals, devices (actuators and sensors), communication busses, as well as processes. Testing becomes independent from real components availability and avoids possible damages on equipment. Malfunctions and critical situation can also be simulated in order to increase system reliability.
