Yantai Raffles Shipyard awarded 35 Mio Euro Contract for Offshore Drilling Platform to Siemens Consortium

The Chinese Yantai Raffles Shipyard, Yantai/Shandong has awarded a new contract to a consortium led by the Siemens Group Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S) for a new semi-submersible drilling platform. Yantai Raffles builds the platform, designed for deepwater drilling, for Offshore Rig Services, based in Stavanger/Norway. The order is worth about 35 million Euro. Consortium members include Siemens A.S of Norway, Wärtsila Finland OY and Kongsberg Maritime A.S of Norway.
The Siemens Consortium scope of supply includes diesel engine generator
sets, propulsion, power distribution, transformers, drives and motors,
an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a dynamic three-dimensional
positioning system (DP 3), an integrated control and safety system, the
telecom system and auxiliary systems.
Project management and system engineering will be organized by Siemens
Norway with manufacturing taking place in Norway, Finland, the
Netherlands, China and various other locations in Europe and Asia. The
contract reflects a long term partnership between Yantai Raffles and
Siemens in the execution of complex offshore industry projects,
including but not limited to Semi-Submersibles and Floating Production
Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels.
