Siemens is growing in the Chinese oil and gas market: 30 million
euros in new orders

With an order volume of 30 million euros, the
Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services Group (I&S) was once again
able to expand its solutions business in the Chinese oil and gas market
in 2005. "There is a great demand for high-tech solutions for refineries
and, especially, for offshore business", commented Hans-Werner Linne,
head of the Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services Group (I&S) in
China, referring to the increased business.
Today, China is the world's second largest energy consumer, just after
the U.S., and China's need for energy is growing continuously. In order
to reduce its dependency on oil imports, China has started to
systematically develop new oil fields. For deep-sea platforms and for
refineries and pipelines as well, Siemens is supplying the
electrotechnical infrastructure, instrumentation, telecommunication
systems and power supply equipment.
For the current year, Linne is expecting further growth at a rate that
is considerably above growth for the market as a whole, which has been
forecast at 12 per cent. "The opportunity for Siemens lies in the rising
demand for innovative and proven technology. We are satisfying this
demand with our "Sisog" portfolio". I&S is focusing on the offshore
area, pipelines and the modernization of refineries. In China, I&S has
mainly used pipeline compressor drives (Sisog COMPD), power supply
systems (Sisog E-House) and all-inclusive solutions for deep-sea
drilling (Sisog Drill).
With Sisog COMPD, I&S provides a flexible, highly available drive
solution for pump and compressor stations that meets all the special
requirements of the oil & gas market. Sisog E-House is a
pressure-sealed, air-cooled energy control system, which can be ideally
integrated in a floating or fixed oil platform. It can be used to
interrelate and control switching installations, motor control centers,
transformers, distributors and monitoring systems and is also suitable
for other applications. Sisog Drill is a complete system, consisting of
drill drives, a control system and instrumentation. All
drilling-specific options can be controlled via an interface so that a
close check is kept on the oil extraction process.
