Combines the advantages of mechanical and pneumatic flotation in a compact solution. Using no agitator or drives, the system not only saves space but also uses less energy. High separation quality is achieved by the patented aeration technology which effectively prevents agglomeration of granules.
In the framework of a joint pilot project with the Minera Los Pelambres copper mine in Chile, tests were conducted with the pilot flotation cell used for the separation of copper and molybdenum in the molybdenum extraction plant. As a result, molybdenum recovery, especially of fine particles, increased more than 2% of the total process by the use of one single cell. However, results depend on feed load and operation mode. Compared to conventional cells with the same capacity, operating costs of the pilot cell are reduced considerably by lower gas and power consumption. Due to the satisfying overall results, Minera Los Pelambres commissioned a second Siemens Flotation Cell about one year after installing the first.
