Plate-Steckel Mill
A Unique Combination of Productivity and Width
Among rolling mill types, plate mills are distinctive in the way that they exploit the metallurgical attributes of their product. They pay for this flexibility, though, in a low level of asset utilization.
The Plate-Steckel mill began life as an attempt to combine the utilization of the strip mill and the width of the plate mill. The product quality aspirations were modest at first, because of limited slab thickness and constrained strain-temperature path.
The SIROLL Plate-Steckel mill, however, is setting new benchmarks in accessible grades and plate applications, and pushing the width boundaries of the process too. Long experience in Steckeling process control and coiler furnace design is coupled with caster and plate mill expertise to deliver a special level of performance in this increasingly important plate and structural coil rolling technique.
