More compact and lightweight than other propulsion solutions, SINAVYCIS Permasyn propulsion motors are also extremely efficient and quiet.

The challenge
Submarines need propulsion systems that are reliable and highly available. At the same time, low noise signatures are essential to reduce the possibility of being traced. A highly efficient system allows the submarine to remain submerged for as long as possible. Other desirable factors include low heat emission, small size, and components that are highly accessible to ease maintenance.

Our solution
By relying on permanent magnets, SINAVYCIS Permasyn propulsion motors avoid the need for electrical exciters. To make efficient use of space, SINAVYCIS Permasyn motors are short and compact. Siemens has provided propulsion systems for approximately 150 submarines, including more than 130 SINAVYCIS DC PROP systems. The standardized modules that make up SINAVYCIS Permasyn can be freely combined with one another, making it easy to adapt the system to a particular vessel’s needs. The components offer excellent reliability and a high degree of availability.
