Energy Optimization
A holistic approach to cut energy costs sustainably

Our offering comprises four phases, beginning with an audit of energy management and including a first rough estimate of savings potentials. This is followed by a technical analysis and a review of technical and economic feasibility. Its outcome is sustainable implementation of the measures.

Energy optimization in plants
The challenge
Increasing energy prices on a global scale and tighter laws for greenhouse gas emissions are forcing industrial enterprises to handle energy more efficiently. Nevertheless, in comparison with other processes, energy consumption is often not assigned the highest priority.

Our solution
Energy Optimization from Siemens Industrial Technologies improves the energy efficiency of industrial plants on a permanent basis. A company's complete energy balance is taken into consideration. All forms of energy are considered, including electrical, mechanical and thermal energy, and all primary energy sources involved, such as oil, gas and water.

Phase 1: Energy Health Check

In the first phase, the Energy Health Check, all operational processes relevant to energy management and the related organizational structures are examined and assessed systematically on the basis of a computer-assisted interview.

Result
  • Evaluation of the company's energy management system
  • Approaches toward improving energy management
  • Possible savings potential
Energy management is evaluated by making comparisons with other industries, regions and sectors based on over 2,000 enterprises studied.

Phase 2: Analysis Phase

Phase 2 comprises a technical on-site analysis. The general state of the plant is assessed in relation to energy efficiency and measures are defined for boosting energy efficiency. All forms of energy, energy supply and distribution, energy data acquisition and possible energy losses are considered.

Result
  • Specific measures for boosting energy efficiency
  • Derivation of the attainable optimization potential
  • Estimation of the required investment

Phase 3: Concept Phase

In this phase the measures identified previously are prioritized according to technical effort and economic expenditure. Technical effort is determined in close cooperation with production and maintenance departments and also partners and/or suppliers. The actual savings potential is determined on the basis of measurements and costing studies. Binding offers are obtained to determine the investment requirements. An implementation strategy is drawn up for the measures chosen.

Result
  • Detailed technical and economic study (feasibility study)
  • Implementation strategy for selected measures

Phase 4: Implementation

The selected measures for improving energy efficiency are implemented in this phase. Professional project management ensures rapid processing, and selected partners implement the measures. Possible subsidies are also reviewed in this connection.

Result
  • Fast implementation of measures with professional project management
  • Sustainable reduction of energy consumption
  • Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
  • Access to possible subsidies
Energy optimization also takes drive systems into account. An analysis of drives can, however, also be ordered separately as a special package of services.

Good reasons for Energy Optimization
  • Systematic identification of measures for boosting energy efficiency
  • Holistic and sustainable reductions in energy consumption and costs
  • Access to possible subsidies

Environmental Care
  • Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
  • Production with low environmental impact
