SIWACIS PAS eOD
electronic operation diary

SIWACIS PAS eOD (electronic Operation Diary) is a software package that can be integrated into an existing control system and provides the functionality of an operations log. Based on an internal database, it is the modern alternative to paper-based operations logs or shift logs.

SIWACIS PAS eOD - daily overview
The challenge
The reliability of a plant depends on information and communication flow between all the people involved in the process. Conventional, entirely manual operations logs result in impeded and error-prone communications between the participants, and offer no support for systematic analysis of all the information. SIWACIS PAS eOD is designed to meet the requirements of operations, maintenance and materials management. All systems data that are relevant in tracking the operation are recorded, displayed and stored. Handled data is not limited to specific malfunctions, operational limitations or damage incidents. SIWACIS PAS eOD can also be used for trouble-free documentation and communications throughout a plant concerning abnormalities as they are happening, as well as schedule management and operational data monitoring. SIWACIS PAS eOD provides a more orderly and efficient method of logging processes in a plant-wide system to ensure transparency.

Our solution
Since data entries are centrally stored on the Microsoft SQL Server, the SIWACIS PAS eOD operations log can be easily installed in all PCs connected to the server, whether in the control room, office or laboratory.

As a result, SIWACIS PAS eOD supports transparent communications between the departments involved in operational processes – such as operations, laboratory, management and services – and ensures uniform, up-to-date information about operational events.

More systematic efficiency and transparency
SIWACIS PAS eOD eliminates tedious searches for entries concerning previously recorded processes. An easy-to-use search screen makes you find the desired processes fast, precisely and consistently.

With SIWACIS PAS eOD you can also track individual processes and their history. And the ability of visualizing a process from its beginning to its current status makes it possible to retrace the sequence of events at any time. This ensures unproblematic documentation of maintenance actions. The Storing of an equipment-specific history also facilitates fast fault identification.

Consistent information improves safety
In addition to improving the quality of operational processes, the use of SIWACIS PAS eOD also improves the safety of the process sequence. The operator can enter notes, instructions or comments at any work station in the control system via a commentary window directly at the aggregate or at a measuring point.

When notes or instructions are entered, the symbol for the particular aggregate or measuring point is marked in the plant diagram. This marking can be viewed at all work stations. As a result, all users have access to the same information, and thus operation errors can be avoided. By giving all users access to the same information and by storing appropriate instructions in the control system, SIWACIS PAS eOD reduces errors.

Good reasons for SIWACIS PAS eOD
  • Increased reliability in operational communications because of a shared information base
  • Convenient tracking of processes by filter or search functions
  • Orderly transfer during shift changes based on traceable information
  • Documentation of operational history as a basis for potential improvements
  • Integration into the existing control system saves hardware investment
