Siemens VAI has developed and implemented new technologies which enable environmental emissions in sinter production to be reduced to previously unattained levels. This has been achieved with the introduction of a Selective Waste Gas Recirculation System, in which the off-gas from selected zones of the sinter machine are mixed with cooler off-air and/or ambient air and recirculated to the sinter machine.

A typical sinter plant configuration today with conventional blowers and electrostatic precipitators may not attend the latest environmental regulations, which call for a higher dust and pollutants removal (e.g. SOx, NOx, dioxins).

Our solution

Siemens VAI has devleoped the Selective Waste Gas Recirculation System . The primarily target is to re-circulate part of the off-gas back to the sinter process and use its positive effects again. As on the basis of this, solid fuels can be saved due to contribution of CO post-combustion and re-circulated heat. While the sintering capacity can be increased, the off-gas volume can be kept constant decreasing the freight and emissions of pollutants. Specific investment costs are minimized and additional equipment for gas cleaning facilities are optimized in terms of investments and operational costs.
