Tracking & Tracing with Track IT The challenge As quality requirements continue to increase, and as stricter regulations are imposed for the monitoring of the entire delivery chain, global producers of food, beverages and other consumer goods face a major challenge in trying to manage this and at the same time maintain profitability. In the last few years the market situation and present regulations (EEC 178/02) for consumer protection, especially in the food and beverages industry, have made it necessary to trace all components and data contributing to product quality. Also, all production units must be clearly identified, enabling them to be tracked to the customer.

Our solution

External Tracking & Tracing Track IT is our standard solution for external Tracking & Tracing – from the production plant through intermediate storages and transit points, to the customer. It enables the entire production, as well as individual shipments or even batches, to be identified and traced. Important aspects of the solution are: - high level of flexibility and scalability (Track IT is based on SIMATIC IT) - easy integration in your existing technology Staying informed at all times and everywhere Every product is “fingerprinted” with a uniform identification, for example, with an EAN128 standard-compliant label. Track IT logs and stores every intermediate step – from loading of the pallet after production and reloading onto customer pallets, through the various intermediate storages right up to delivery to the customer. This data is entered on hand-held devices such as barcode readers. The latest up-to-date position of the product is stored and can be queried at any time to ensure complete traceability. The functions – from labeling to reporting Track IT covers all areas to provide end-to-end Tracking & Tracing: Pallet labeling – including automatic printing and attachment functions on 2 or 4 sides of the pallet. The system also includes a readability check of the barcode, production plan management and an automatic SSCC and batch generation. It goes without saying that Track IT is UCC/EAN128-compliant. Storage and quality – the pallet database is updated in real time. Other features include user-friendly administration of the quality status, a flexible stock query system, and reliable picking even with mixed pallets. Shipping – the pallet is automatically linked to its destination by scanning of the labels. A plausibility check is automatically made. Reporting – all parties concerned receive the information they need in processed form, from Tracking & Tracing, inventory and shipping reports to production reports for one shift, for one day or for one week.
