On-Line Fully Rotating Rod & Bar Measurement System

Fully rotating on-line optical measurement system for Rod & Bar mills. Providing real time cold corrected dimensions of the product as it is being rolled direct to the operator, both in graphical and numerical form.

The challenge
In order to reduce setup time it is important to obtain dimensional information as quickly as possible, then continuous monitoring is required to provide product dimensions throughout the rolling process, this is to ensure tolerance of product along the full length. Measurement information to be achieved for detailed analysis if required. Measurement should not be effected by bar twist and vibration.

Our solution
The SIROLLCISORBIS allows the cold corrected dimension to be displayed to the operator in real time reducing the time required to make adjustments to the mill allowing the first bar to be rolled on size. By constantly measuring the product early detection of size changes can be provided, alarms can be triggered to warn operators allowing a reduction in scrap of out of tolerance products being produced. The gauge is not effected by bar twist or vibration. Two models are avaliable to measure ranges fron 4 - 30mm with an accuracy of +/-0.01mm and 4 - 120mm with an accuracy of +/-0.02
