Propeller Motors

Depending on the drive concept and the type of converter selected asynchronous or synchronous motors are used for propulsion.

Robustly built, these motors are directly coupled to the propeller, drive a reduction gear, or act as a booster drive in combination with a diesel engine.

Additionally the motors are equipped with a comprehensive monitoring and supervision system, tailored to the requirements of individual ship operations, degree of protection and type of cooling.

Propulsion drives from Siemens are designed, manufactured, and tested according to the requirements of classification societies, the IEC and VDE specifications and DIN standards.
