68500- ton luxury cruise
liner “AIDA Diva” delivered in April 2007
Owned by Aida Cruises, branch of P&O
Built by Meyer Shipyard, Papenburg, Germany
With the
first new cruise liner in a series of 4 Aida
Cruises is expecting to expand its leading
position in the German cruise market even
further. Each vessel will be 249 meters
long, 32.2 meters in beam and, with a gross
tonnage of 68,500, will be able to carry
2030 passengers.
Siemens
Marine Solutions Hamburg delivered the
complete Systems for Power Generation,
electrical Propulsion and Automation.
With this new reference Siemens Marine
Solutions again combined latest
environmental friendly propulsion technology
with highest standards of reliable and fail
to safe ship automation to a completely
integrated solution (CIS). This configuration lead
into following main advantages for the
owner:
Reduced
costs at all levels by innovative solutions
with inter-process control technologies

principle of high
redundant propulsion system
Each of the
diesel-electric main propulsion systems supplied
by Siemens will have an output of 2 x 12.5 MW.
Key features of the two propulsion motors will
be their extremely low levels of noise and
vibration. The diesel-electric propulsion
systems will also be exceptionally eco-friendly
in that harmful exhaust emissions from the
engines when running at their rated load will be
drastically reduced. Safety is always the key
issue for the operator. With the SISHIP DRIVE MV
System AIDA Diva fulfills the latest
classification notation RP3 50%.
This innovative propulsion concept will ensure

Medium Voltage (11 kV) Switchboard
with SIPROTEC protection device
always a availability of 50 % propulsion power even
at flooding of one watertight section.
In addition, the energy management
system will also
incorporate an open interface for linking to the
“SISHIP IMAC” marine automation system. |

Engine Control Room
SISHIP IMAC
in a very large configuration provides all the
technical preconditions to operate the machinery of
such a high sophisticated ship like the AIDA Diva.
This system is based on SIMATIC components and will
undertake all supervisory, alarm and control
functions on board. |
|
The process control
system will employ distributed units linked together
by means of local area networks. This will reduce
the amount of cabling required while at the same
time providing a higher level of fault tolerance. SISHIP IMAC also incorporates the safety management
system, air-conditioning control and the
self-contained emergency shut down system (ESD).
System configuration in detail:
10.800
I/Os for machinery automation
2.850
I/Os for Heating, Ventilation and AC
