The challenge

You plan or run an automation plant, which contains distributed I/O using PROFIBUS.
You have to test the plant during the configuration phase and must save time and cost at the FAT while an exact verification of all promised functions and procedures has to be granted. You have to provide trainings at a running system without interfering the production but guarantee a realistic environment at the same time.

Our solution

As the hardware interface for the SIMIT simulation system, SIMBA Profibus simulates the complete behavior of up to 125 PROFIBUS slaves on the field bus in real time. There exist connections for up to eight busses at one hardware. The simulation takes place without disruption, which means there is no difference for the master in the communication with real and simulated devices. It’s possible to operate a combination of real and simulated Profibus slaves.




 

Networking of various SIMBA Profibus devices makes it possible to simulate several PROFIBUS systems. The PROFIBUS network and its slaves can be configured using the S7/PCS 7 configuration tool (hardware configuration) and then modified or supplemented using the software packet included in the delivery scope of SIMBA. Simple tests can be performed by operating and monitoring the inputs/outputs. Operation and monitoring of the individual device systems as well as triggering of process and diagnostic alarms is possible using a comprehensive typical library. It’s quick and easy to create the simulation structure for a factory acceptance test (FAT) using prepared simulation functions and import options. The modular software design von SIMIT supports and covers a range from the simplest test to complete process simulation.
