SIFIDS
Siemens Flight Information Display System - Integrated information management at the airport

SIFIDS is an intelligent, high-performance Siemens system for displaying flight information. It undertakes distribution of data to the respective display devices and enables real-time data from almost any conceivable data source to be linked into the information displays.

Display in the Airport
The challenge
The continual increase in air traffic and limited capacity on the ground and in the air require constant optimization of all available resources. In order to coordinate the varying and complex processes of an airport, is it crucial to provide easily accessible, up-to-date and comprehensive information. Flight information displays are a fundamental element of this.

SIFIDS is our solution for displaying flight information. The system is suitable for both small airports with limited information requirements and also for large, international traffic hubs with thousands of monitors and boards. It informs both passengers and business departments at any time in an optimal way.

Every user has different requirements in relation to an information system. SIFIDS reacts to these different requirements in a flexible way. Whether information monitors, interactive information kiosks or web displays – all means of presenting information are designed, configured and assigned to the relevant display device in a homogeneous way with SIFIDS.

Our solution
SIFIDS Basic Components

References

SIFIDS solutions have been in use for a number of years at various airports in Germany:
  • Munich Airport

  • Stuttgart Airport

  • Dortmund Airport

More than 30 airports worldwide use the PADS standard components. Numerous other fields of application include other traffic systems such as railways, banks, schools, universities and industries.

Good reasons for SIFIDS
  • Airports are often filled with display boards using different technologies. Consequently, renovations and expansions often require the integration of an extensive network of old peripherals into new systems. Even in this case, integration is perfect
  • SIFIDS enables you to incorporate data from almost any data source into an information display. For example, you can link a layout with an AODB (Airport Operational Database), and SIFIDS automatically always provides the most up-to-date information.
  • SIFIDS undertakes distribution of statistical and dynamic data content to the display devices. Communication can take place via LAN, WAN, Intranet or Internet. Wireless connections (WLAN) and dial-up connections are also supported.
  • Information displays in the browser environment can be executed on other operating systems with the optionally available SIFIDS Web Viewer. Design and configuration of these information displays take place with standard tools.
  • SIFIDS ensures that operators are independent from any individual hardware supplier. Technological advances and competition between hardware vendors can be thus used to your advantage.
