Flight Information Distribution

With our flight information distribution systems, any available flight data stored in the AODB is made automatically available to everybody concerned.

Two types of information recipients need to be distinguished ‑ “passengers & public” or “internal users” ‑ as well as two kinds of data distribution ‑ active and passive.

Passengers and the public are informed mainly by the FIDS system, which generates and updates the display of actual flight information on monitors and information boards. In addition to this passive method of information provision, we are also providing an active component of flight information retrieval based on internet technology, which can be used by virtually everybody via self-service kiosks within the airport area or on any world-wide internet terminal via the airport’s website.

Internal users may be satisfied with the same information and layout presented via the public means of information display but more often they do have special requirements. On the one hand, internal users often need different data than the public (e.g. more accurate flight information), they may also need additional information irrelevant to the public.

For this purpose, our staff monitor display component can be configured to display flight information on standard displays yet in a different format (e.g. more informative but less “beautiful” like in the baggage hall of airport where flight numbers and destinations are shown for the individual baggage carousels). The same applies to internet technology where screen layouts are individually configurable for different user profiles. Such flight information screens can then be selected by the users on their usual workstations, for example office PC’s, CUTE terminals etc.

Active retrieval of flight information by internal users is achieved either by accessing the system’s internal query and reporting tool directly from the database, or by separate applications that use the system’s extensive interfacing capabilities to server external systems with up-to-date data.
