Distributed Drive Technology
The increasing trend in drive technology is to implement functions where they
are required: local to where things are happening. This means that drive
technology is moving from the control cabinet to the application. This
development has many advantages since decentralized control results in more
flexibility in the planning process. Individual requirements can be better
implemented. More space is created in the field. Capital investment is safer
because a plant with distributed control can more easily be extended. But the
main advantage is the real savings that can be made through reduced cabling
outlay and reduced costs for planning, assembly, commissioning and maintenance.
Siemens offers you a number of possibilities for moving your drive technology
from the cabinet to the application. Thanks to the consistently modular design
of all components, our solutions lend themselves to speed of implementation,
adaptability to new challenges and ease of retrofit or expansion.
From our low-voltage motors and geared motors, which cover all common gearing
types, to our G120D inverter, we offer space-saving solutions. Integrated
communications are provided using PROFIBUS and PROFINET, in addition to Drive ES
- the commissioning software for Totally Integrated Automation.
