Passenger Profiling
Intelligent passenger check-in
A long, long time ago, air travel was reserved for a small elite, and airports
were downright relaxed places for people to meet. Today, airplanes are mass
transportation tools, and large airports are more like bus depots or train
stations that must be able to handle throngs of people.
Unfortunately, we also live in a time in which events like Lockerbie, 9/11 and
SARS have left us in no doubt about the importance and necessity of extensive
security measures. Passengers demand maximum security, and for many it is a
crucial factor in deciding whether or not they will travel by plane.
Nevertheless, security measures should not be allowed to turn a trip through the
airport into an obstacle course, but should remain as low-key and inconspicuous
in the background as possible.
The crux of the problem is that more security requires more controls, and that
contradicts the passengers’ desire for more convenience, which includes easy
check-ins, short waits and quick connections.
Our solution helps to ease this conflict. It automatically compares the
passenger’s ticketing data with profiles stored in official databases.
Suspicious persons are automatically reported to the authorities, which may even
prevent a passenger’s trip before he arrives at the airport. Of course, the
system fully complies with all applicable data protection regulations.
